If you are not an ardent A R Rahman fan, then you wouldn't probably know that this song existed. Even if you did I am sure you wouldn't have listened to it more than once. Believe me, its an ARR gem; wonderfully orchestrated, from the master himself...something none other would even have thought of!
Let me confess one thing - I just came across this song couple of months back when my friend was showing me a demo of his home theater system when he played this song. And am I thankful for that! I obviously recognized the song and asked him to skip to another number, but he insisted on listening to that. It was amazing. I never realized the quality of the song until that moment.
Trivia: The opening lines of the song was sung by Bharathiraja. 100 bucks to the ones who had guessed it right at the first instance.
Yeah...ARR is ingenious. The song itself is totally unique with a nice rhythm to a scintillating melody thats so nicely sung by 'Malaysia' Vasudevan. The rural Tamil accent that he brings into the song is really commendable, it was truly a veteran singer at his best!
I listened to this over and over again. Its no mystery that this is one of the hardest compositions of Arr; but I was so captivated I wanted to learn this at any cost. And I got the opportunity yesterday when my roommate was away for the evening and I practiced, for at least couple of hours, trying to understand the notes, the progressions, and the accent.
Now I just sing that everyday while am walking back from the bus stop to my home, after a long hectic day's work !
